Watford's Community Trust launch new education programme! Published:8th August 2012 WATFORD FC LAUNCH NEW EDUCATION PROGRAMME! Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust are delighted to announce that from September they are offering an exciting new education programme, exclusively for 16-18 year olds. The programme will offer the students the chance to gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Performance and Excellence, which is worth up to 3 A-Levels.
The five-a-side game of Futsal is globally recognised as one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the world with a major emphasis on skill and technique. The programme will offer the students the chance to represent Watford Football Club in regular competitive Futsal fixtures against other Football League teams.
World class players, such as Ronaldo and Fabregas, credit the game of Futsal with developing their football skills and the Trust are able to offer excellent progression opportunities within their programme. All learning and training will take place at the brand new Cedars Youth and Community Centre in Harrow Weald.
A student on Southampton’s Futsal programme commented: “It’s a great opportunity if you love football and want to specialise in Sports Studies. You get to represent your team and I really feel part of the club. The qualifications give me the entry level required to go to University and that’s what I hope to do once I finish my 2nd year.”
For more information on the programme, or if you are interested, please contact Helen Taunt on 020 8421 4676 or email helen.taunt@watfordfc.com
