Summary of Your Role
To coordinate and deliver the Trust’s adult weight management programme ‘Shape Up’ in Harrow. To be one of the weight management specialists for the Trust and help and support other programmes where necessary. To have a delivery timetable that meets the needs of the project. To manage a casual workforce, control the project budget, book venues, arrange sessions, liaise with partners, and ensure project outcomes are met and be responsible for the quality of delivery.
There is an expectation on the Healthy Lifestyle Project Officer (HLPO), in collaboration with colleagues, to seek funding opportunities to secure new health opportunities for the Trust.
In addition, there is an expectation of the HLPO to contribute to the further development of the Trust’s work, whilst ensuring the quality and professionalism which is synonymous with the Trust.
The HLPO will have a key role, working across Harrow with a broad group of health and social care stakeholders.
Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of ‘Shape Up’ provision in Harrow, liaising with partners throughout the lifetime of the project.
- Plan, deliver and manage programmes, initiatives, and events to the highest possible standards. This includes for example hiring venues, purchasing equipment, recruiting participants (focusing on targeted groups/geographical areas as required), screening sign-ups and referrals (as appropriate), organising presentations and celebration events, booking player appearances, follow on activities, etc.
- Recruit, manage, train, and develop project/ sessional staff (with relevant qualifications and experience) and volunteers and provide them with a challenging and enjoyable working environment.
- Provide participants with information, advice and guidance on further sports and physical activity opportunities in their locality, based on the individual’s interests and ability.
- Maintain high standards of monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that impact is central to everything that we do.
- Ensure continuous improvement of programme format and service standards.
You Must Have
- Level 3 Personal Trainer or Exercise Referral qualification or a degree (or above) in a related subject area.
- Valid Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Certificates (or willing to complete these courses).
- Understanding of the Trust’s commitment to EDI & Safeguarding
- A sound knowledge of healthy eating, physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
- Experience of promoting health or physical activity programmes.
- Experience of working with and managing casual staff or volunteers.
- A flexible approach to work. You will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.
You Ideally Would Have
- Experience of identifying and reporting of safeguarding concerns.
- Experience of delivering behaviour change interventions for adults.
- Experience of project/event management and report writing.
- Experience and success in building relationships and working collaboratively with a range of partners.
- Valid Mental Health First Aid Certificate
