On Monday 23rd September Watford FC will be supporting supporters with a free event focussed on blood pressure, as part of Hornets Together funded by Premier League Fans Fund and delivered by Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust. The evening event hosted at Vicarage Road Stadium includes free blood pressure checks in the hospitality boxes, hypertension and blood pressure discussion with an NHS Doctor, with plenty of time for a stadium tour as well. The event is being delivered in partnership with the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board.
Around one in four adults in the UK have high blood pressure, but only half of those are aware of it. High blood pressure (hypertension) doesn’t usually have any obvious symptoms, making it an invisible threat to many. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and vascular dementia. Regular blood pressure checks are essential to reduce people’s risks of developing these conditions. This is the premise behind a new campaign by Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board ‘Invisible feeling, invisible danger.’, you can find out more information at https://www.hertsandwestessex.ics.nhs.uk/news/invincible-feeling-invisible-danger/
This evening is part of that campaign and aims to encourage a greater understanding of the lifestyle changes people can make to reduce their risk of developing high blood pressure in the future. It will also, importantly, help to get more people checking their blood pressure. Getting your blood pressure checked is quick, easy and could save your life.
