NewPartnershiptoofferFemaleFootballandEducationScheme(16-19)atKingsLangleySecondarySchool

A new partnership between Kings Langley School and Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust is offering females aged 16-19 the chance to combine A-Level studies with an opportunity to train and play football at the school, starting in September 2026.

Students who have now entered year 11, and would be interested in joining the sixth form in year 12, in 2026, are invited for Autumn Trials on 29 October from 4.30 – 6pm at the school (Kings Langley Secondary School, Love Lane, WD4 9HN). This will be followed by a Post-Open Evening Trial (3 December, 5 – 6pm) and February Half Term Trial (18 February 2026, 4.30 – 6pm).

The Female Football and Education Scheme (16-19) will give students the opportunity to fulfil their academic potential as part of the school’s sixth form, alongside regular training and matches delivered by Trust staff at Kings Langley’s state of the art facilities.

The new project builds on the success of the Trust’s partnerships with Samuel Ryder Academy (St Albans), Westfield Academy (Watford), and Whitmore High School (Harrow) for similar projects for male students. In 2024, 100% of the students leaving the Whitmore project gained a Distinction, Merit (DDM) or higher. Of those involved at Westfield five went to America on scholarships, while one is now playing professionally in Slovakia. Feedback at all projects has been extremely positive with one Samuel Ryder student telling the team:

“I have loved combining my enjoyment of football with my further education. It’s been fantastic to be a part of.”

David Fisher, Headteacher at Kings Langley School, said:

“We are looking forward to the upcoming trials being the starting point for prospective sixth form students joining us in just over a year’s time. The next trial will take place before our sixth form open evening on 27 November 2025, when students will have a chance to find out more about their educational options as well as find out how the timetable will combine studies and football. We are really proud of our new artificial grass pitch and our sixth form building, and confident that students will really enjoy being part of our school.”

Neil Deans, Head of Football and Education Projects at the Trust, added:

“We are really excited to be partnering with Kings Langley School for our first female 16-19 programme. This will build on our established delivery of our three existing projects and our female Player Development Centres and Girls’ Emerging Talent Centre, for junior grassroots footballers. We hope to see lots of players coming to the trials and those who we think have the required footballing ability then choose Kings Langley for their A-Level studies in just over a years’ time in September 2026.”
