Watford FC and our Community, Sports & Education Trust are proud to be sponsoring Herts Pride 2023, which takes place on Saturday August 19 at Cassiobury Park in Watford.
Herts Pride is an all-inclusive event where anyone is welcome. The event will have a wide range of exciting stalls, fabulous catering, a main stage with a diverse mix of entertaining acts, and their legendary dog show.
Hertfordshire’s largest LGBTQ+ festival first took place in 2013, and this year the club and Trust will be hosting the Sports Zone along with our Proud Hornets supporters’ group.
Tyson Martin, Event Director for Herts Pride, said: “We are proud of our achievements in having established an annual event where everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate diversity.
“Herts Pride includes people of all races, faiths, abilities, sexualities and genders. Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, participating in our event is a way to show your own pride, and to make a positive impact in your community.”
In addition to Herts Pride, a series of events will also be taking place across Watford in the build-up to the weekend under the banner of Proud Watford. Led by an independent group of local volunteers from the LGBTQ+ community and allies drawn from the voluntary and business sectors, the Proud Watford events will finish with a Together as One parade which will follow a route from the town centre to Cassiobury Park and the Herts Pride event.
Watford FC’s EDI Lead, Dave Messenger, said: “It’s a great pleasure to be partnering with Herts Pride and supporting Proud Watford. Along with our colleagues in the Trust, we’re looking forward to celebrating our allyship of both the Proud Hornets and the local LGBTQ+ community across the course of the week.”
