Global footwear and apparel brand Skechers has been named the headline sponsor of Watford Football Club’s official registered charity Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust, providing a significant financial contribution to their ongoing community engagement. Based on recent statistics, this means Skechers will be helping over 40,000 individuals throughout their initial two-year commitment.
As a family-focused brand, synonymous with innovation in its comfort technologies and a clear focus on its customers’ fitness, health, and wellbeing, Skechers ethos fits the goals of the Trust almost as snugly as their footwear. Skechers have a positive track record for giving back – working with several organisations over many years. In 2010, Skechers established its own foundation, to strengthen communities around the world.
You’re likely to see many trainers on show at Trust projects and sessions that span generations of families across Hertfordshire and London. There are adult weight management programmes, and chair-based exercise for older adults, to the countless number of young people benefitting from youth clubs, school sessions and football activity. The Trust has one goal – healthier, happier, stronger communities, and has been delivering positive community activities for over 30 years.
This partnership will also include branded bibs for the Trust’s Player Development Pathway and sponsorship of one of the Trust’s many community events – Step Up. Scheduled for Spring 2025, Step Up is an annual challenge event at Vicarage Road Stadium in which participants run, walk, or climb, up and down the stands of this 20,000+ seater stadium.
“Skechers is proud to partner with Watford FC and The Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust”
said Richard Parker, Managing Director for Skechers UK and Ireland.
“Improving the lives of those in our community through sport and education is extremely important, and as Skechers ventures into performance sports, including Football, working with young athletes of the future to encourage, develop and build confidence is vital. Having seen first-hand this important work the Trust offer over the years, inspired by the late Graham Taylor OBE, it is something we are excited to see continue, while supporting its development”.
Rob Smith, Community Director at the Trust added:
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Skechers as our new headline sponsor, a position we’ve not had for many years. It comes at a vital time for the Trust as this secures the future of several of our activities and the operations that ensure we can continue enriching people’s lives. Ultimately, that is what this comes down to, with the help of Skechers, more people will benefit from our work and that is a fantastic thing. Thank you to Richard and the team at Skechers UK & Ireland for their fantastic support, we look forward to working together in the future.”
