Step Up, a unique stair climbing challenge in the home of the Hornets, is set to take place on Saturday 5th July 2025, at Watford FC’s Vicarage Road Stadium – a date that also marks the 77th birthday of the NHS.

This exciting event will raise funds for Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust and its neighbour, West Herts Hospitals Charity, the official charity for West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Participants will have the chance to run, walk, or climb their way up and down the stands of the 20,000+ seater stadium. With chip timing available, participants can set personal goals, compete with friends, or simply focus on finishing the challenge. All funds raised will support the health and wellbeing of thousands of local people, with proceeds going towards projects funded by Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust and West Herts Hospitals Charity.

West Herts Hospitals Charity helps fund state-of-the-art equipment and enhancements across our local NHS hospitals. Most recently, the charity funded two Savi Scout surgical guidance systems, revolutionising breast cancer treatment by using radar technology to detect and pinpoint cancer with millimetre, enabling the precise removal of cancerous tissue.

Alison Rosen, CEO at West Herts Hospitals Charity, said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to support our NHS on its 77th birthday. Every step taken will help enhance patient care and support our incredible NHS staff at West Herts Hospitals. We are delighted to be partnering with Watford FC Trust again and look forward to seeing the local community come together for this special event.”

Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust Community Director, Rob Smith, said:

“Following previous years’ success, we are pleased to once again be partnering with West Herts Hospital Charity for Step Up 2025. We share a community, and both have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of local people; through this event, supporters of ours can now help us continue that work.

We are also thankful to our headline sponsors at the Trust, Skechers, who are joining us with this unique challenge. We look forward to seeing all Steppers at Vicarage Road, helping us mark the NHS’s birthday in this special way.”

This event promises a fun family-friendly experience, with two categories available: adults (18 years and over) and 6-18 year olds.
