Local accountancy firm Mercer & Hole is once again sponsoring a charity walk, The Taylor Trek, fundraising for Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust. After a successful first year, 2023’s edition of The Taylor Trek is planned for Sunday 15th October, with sign-ups now live.
Created by the Trust, in collaboration with their patrons – The Taylor Family, The Taylor Trek has three routes of varying distances, ranging from three to 18 miles, starting under the watchful eye of the Graham Taylor statue at Vicarage Road Stadium and finishing with a pitch-side walk. The walk will take participants on an inspiring journey through the key sites of Taylor’s Hornets history while raising vital funds for a charity close to his heart.
This event will bring together Watford FC fans, legends, supporters, Trust beneficiaries, and families. In 2022,114 people took on the trek, raising over £10,000 along the way. There were smiles aplenty as everyone that took part finished their walk before claiming their medal from Rita Taylor herself. A post-event survey completed by trekkers showed that 100% of survey respondents rated The Taylor Trek as either Excellent or Good – with 82% of those being excellent. The survey also collected the below feedback:
“It was a really rewarding day. I fully recommend as many people as possible to do it, it’s great fun and for a worthy cause.”
“It was just brilliant to be part of the great experience and to be part of Graham Taylor who started it all.”
Looking ahead to their second year of sponsoring The Taylor Trek, Jo Upshall, Audit and Business Advisory Partner at Mercer & Hole said;
“We are excited to be involved with The Taylor Trek for the second time. Last year the Mercer & Hole team, and our families, thoroughly enjoyed it, we walked alongside the academy players, chatting about football and the atmosphere in the ground at the end of the walk was fantastic – we all had a great time.”
