WatfordFCCommunityTrustShinesAgainatthe2025CanaryCup

Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust proudly returned to Norwich this August to take part in the Canary Cup, an annual youth football festival hosted by the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation at their outstanding facility, The Nest.

The tournament, which features a wide range of competitions across age groups (U8–U15), categories (academy, community, disability, and girls’ football), brought together teams from all over the country to celebrate grassroots football at its best.

This year, the Trust entered 11 teams, with a total of 132 players representing the club across the four-day tournament. The young Hornets showcased high-quality football, excellent teamwork, and a true commitment to learning throughout the event. A special congratulations goes to the team in the Under-12s category, who lifted the trophy for the third consecutive year—a remarkable achievement that reflects the consistency, dedication, and talent within the group.

While the U12s grabbed headlines, every single team displayed passion and progress. Across all age groups, players embraced the opportunity to learn, compete, and represent Watford FC with pride. The development and enjoyment on show were just as important as the results.

Families who made the journey to Norwich gave the following positive comments:

“Thanks to all the coaches for a great day – U11 boys loved it and it wouldn’t be possible without you guys.”

“Awesome football from the boys and great to spend time with all the parents! Have lots of photos and clips to share.”

“Big thanks to all the coaches for organising what was a super fun day.”

“Thank you for inviting my son to take part at the tournament – it’s a fantastic experience for him.”

“Huge thanks to the coaching team for a really positive environment and great coaching.”

“Thanks Watford coaches for arranging it all and your hard work on the day. Real quality on show.”

These messages reflect not only the quality of football but the inclusive and supportive environment the Trust prides itself on providing.

Beyond the results, the Canary Cup offered a brilliant experience for all involved – players, coaches, and families alike. It was a chance for players to challenge themselves, meet new friends, and create memories that will last well beyond the final whistle.
