As we approach the end of the Spring term for primary and secondary schools, attention turns to the Summer. Watford Football Club’s Community Sports and Education Trust has a range of programmes and activities to enhance pupils’ learning and development, see below details, discounts, and how your school can get involved:
Positive Minds – Sign up today, and you’ll be entered into our raffle for a chance to win a Watford FC Stadium tour!
Positive Minds is a 10 or 6-week wellbeing programme combining classroom and practical-based activities to engage Year 6 students in the topic of mental health.
The Positive Minds programme has been positively impacting young people’s lives in and around Hertfordshire since 2018. Currently, due to social, internal and external pressures, the demand on young people’s well-being has never been so high. Recent research has shown that over the last decade, there has been a staggering increase of 65% in Mental Health admissions for young people.
Feedback quotes from Schools, teachers and students include:
“An amazing programme for opening up the conversations around mental health.”
“They (the students) have all found the series of lessons to be really useful. Some of them have said how they have used the ideas in the sessions to help them when they are thinking about moving on to Secondary schools or when they are feeling anxious or upset about something.”
“It helped me to cope with situations happening now and for the future.”

Joy of moving
Joy of moving, Move and Learn is targeted at children aged nine and 10 years old – a key milestone in a child’s development – and is designed to appeal to every child through a fun and engaging approach. Consisting of nine hours of education over six weeks, plus a series of home-based family challenges, children learn about the importance of physical activity and how to eat a balanced diet and lead an active lifestyle. Move and Learn staff also work hard to support and encourage schools to adopt the ideas and approach in the long term.
Children respond with huge positivity, reporting that they have a better understanding of why it’s important to be active and to eat a balanced and varied diet. They are also more motivated to stay active. In fact, the latest evaluation of the programme has shown that 94% of children felt that the six weeks had given them new ideas to get active.
