Accountancy firm Mercer & Hole have pledged to support the unique fundraising event, Step Up, at Vicarage Road stadium on Sunday 10th October. This stair climbing challenge promises to be great fun for people of all ages and will raise vital funds for Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust (Trust).

Step Up has successfully been running since 2018, with this year promising to be bigger and better than ever before, in part, thanks to the sponsorship and support from Mercer & Hole. The challenge has two courses; the first will see those over 16 years old taking on 1750 steps as they make their way up and down every stairway in the stadium (that’s the equivalent to going up and down the empire state building!), whilst the second is designed for those under 16 years old. The event boasts chip timing, medals, and sports massages for those taking part, as well as post-event refreshments and inflatable fun, there’ll even be a visit from Vicarage Road’s resident mascot Harry the Hornet!
Mercer & Hole will also be entering teams of their staff in to the ‘Team Challenge’ part of the event – a feature open to all local businesses.

Mercer & Hole have been helping clients since 1905, testament to their long-standing reputation. They are also placed in the UK market as a top 40 accountancy firm, one of the top accountancy firms for private clients and as a top financial planning company.
Audit and Business Advisory Partner at Mercer & Hole, Jo Upshall, said of the sponsorship:

“We are proud to sponsor the Step it Up fundraising event for Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust. Being a part of the local Watford community is important to us, a lot of clients and team members are from Watford and the Hertfordshire area where the Trust supports. Being able to give back to the community in which we live and work in, is something we are delighted to do. It also gives us a chance to get fit as a team with some competitive spirit thrown in for good measure.”

Whilst Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at the Trust, Tamora Burford, said:

“It is fantastic that Mercer & Hole have come on board to sponsor Step Up. They have shown they are company that truly care about our communities. Their sponsorship will not only directly support us but also mean we can encourage more people to get involved in Step Up and ultimately improve more lives through our work.”
