Watford FC CSE Trust and the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust have teamed up together to develop a fun, active, and informative course to support people after they have had a stroke. Our 10-week programme consists of weekly 2 hour group sessions, which on top of an hour of exercise include discussions around the impact your stroke has had to your life and give direction on what positive actions can be taken moving forward.
By the end of the 10 weeks we will have touched on an array of topics, such as post stroke medications, how mental health can be affected following a stroke, and the benefits of exercise to support recovery. You will also be introduced to a range of different ways to exercise, such as circuit training, zumba, and boxercise to name a few. In the group environment you will feel supported and empowered to reflect, try new things, and look ahead with positivity.
- You must be over 18 year old.
- You must have had a stroke or a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA, also known as a mini stroke).
- You must be able to get to Cedars Youth and Community Centre as no transport is provided.
- You must be able to walk independently indoors and outdoors. You can use a stick if needed.
