The Trust and Westfield Academy have joined forces to create a Football & Education Academy. This exciting programme will give talented male players between the ages of 16-18 years old the chance to combine academic studies with practical football experience, designed to bridge the gap between grassroots and academy football.
Players from the academy will train daily with UEFA qualified coaches and will play on a competitive basis in the National Football Youth League which is an experience similar to football academies nationwide. Players may progress into professional or semi-professional football following in the footsteps of many students in the past.
In addition to the training, players will complete A-Levels or BTEC’s studies with the support and guidance of the highly skilled teaching staff at Westfield Academy. They offer a range of subjects to study alongside the football academy. All our students are also enrolled onto their FA Level 1 Coaching Award which can lead them into a career of coaching making them employable before they leave the programme.
Players will receive official Watford FC training kit, gym membership, physio cover and access to Westfield Academy’s fantastic sport facilities. These include a country standard grass pitch, 3G astro, gym, spin studio and sports hall.
The academy offers many pathways for students including, university options, USA scholarships, apprenticeships, coaching opportunities, employment and avenues into football. It is a place that boasts 2018/19 and 2019/20 league titles, numerous success stories and it is a fantastic opportunity for students who want to be involved in the sports and leisure industry.
